Our Story: Born out of Personal Experience

In 2005, a tragic aircraft accident off the coast of Southern California took the life of my close friend and mentor, Dan. The night of the accident, I was one of the first to learn about his death. That’s one of those calls you don’t forget… I was left speechless when I found out.

Dan’s wife Zandra and I embarked on a journey together. I was her rock that helped her and her three young children as much as possible through this difficult time. I was present when the wreckage was pulled up from the ocean, helped coordinate Dan’s celebration of life, and raised close to $30,000 in donations. I gave one of the eulogies, and up until this point, I had not cried a tear and wondered to myself if or when it was coming.

The drive home that evening was one I will never forget. As soon I got in the car with my wife, huge tears streamed down my face. We were on the freeway driving home and it was at that moment that I announced to her my desire to start a company that helps families after the loss of a loved one. I didn’t know how, but it became my purpose.

Based on a Genuine Desire to Help

Helping my friend’s family was such a rewarding experience that I wanted to help out in that role for others too. It was out of this need to help other families with their estate liquidations, estate sales, dispersal and content removal services, that Blue Sky Estate Services was born.

I named the company Blue Sky Estate Services because I am also a pilot and the pilot in me loves blue skies, which represents a picture or feeling of calmness after a storm. We want to be that guiding light that helps people cope when dealing with a loss or other life event.
